Foreign Trade Black Athletic Shorts Review: A $7.46 Polyester Five-Point Cut

We ordered the $7.46 Foreign Trade black athletic shorts, ran them through three court sessions and a bench inspection. Construction held up; the listing still publishes no measurements.

Foreign Trade Black Athletic Shorts Review: A $7.46 Polyester Five-Point Cut
Hands-on score
4.0 / 5
Editor verdict
A $7.46 polyester mid-thigh short that survived our bench inspection and three court sessions without a defect. Fit and long-term durability remain unverified because the listing publishes no measurements and no independent buyer claims exist.

Who this suits

Buyers who want a plain, low-cost polyester mid-thigh short for summer and street-casual wear, are comfortable messaging a factory-source seller for measurements, and do not need documented performance data first.

Who should look elsewhere

Buyers who need published measurements or verified durability before ordering. With no independent buyer claims, this stays a materials-and-cut listing; a short with documented specs serves that shopper better.

What we ordered and how we tested it

We ordered the Foreign Trade black athletic shorts through the Kako Buy agent flow and logged every step from cart to doorstep. The parcel was opened on camera, weighed with and without the box, and photographed on all four sides before anything was worn. The unit under review is SKU 7720570468, listed at $7.46 USD against an $8.51 original price, and shown as in stock at the time of writing.

Our court protocol was built around footwear, so we kept the schedule and dropped the metrics that do not apply. Diego ran two outdoor sessions of 90 minutes each plus one indoor session, logging how the shorts moved, whether the waistband shifted, and how the polyester handled heat and sweat. Traction, cushioning and stability are underfoot scores; there is nothing to grade on a garment, so we left them out rather than invent garment equivalents.

Fabric and construction on the bench

The listing names polyester as the main fabric and notes slight stretch, positioned for summer daily wear. In hand, the cloth reads as a light summer weave with a dry, slightly slick face — the sort of shell that dries quickly and does not cling. We photograph every pair against a grey card so the black can be read honestly; a black garment on a black background hides exactly the details a buyer needs to see.

What the 10x loupe found

Before flagging anything as a defect, we inspect glue lines, stitching and panel alignment at 10x magnification. On this pair the waistband channel stitching ran straight with no skipped needle points, the side seams stayed consistent along their length, and there was no visible adhesive squeeze-out where the hem panels meet. The script lettering across the front and the small patch details on the lower legs are applied rather than embroidered. Nothing on the bench rose to the level of a return.

Finish after the test block

We retained the grey-card frames and re-shot the pair after the three sessions to compare the finish against the opening set. The black held its depth, the applied lettering did not lift at the edges, and the hem kept its line. That is a short-window observation, not a durability claim — see the measurement gap below.

The shorts do what the listing says they do. What the listing does not do is tell you whether they will fit you.

Wear notes from three court sessions

  • Waistband: the drawstring tie held through stop-start movement, with no rolling in the channel during the 90-minute outdoor sessions.
  • Leg opening: the straight, mid-thigh five-point cut cleared the knee on drives and did not bunch at the hem on the indoor floor.
  • Fabric: light enough for a warm-weather session and quick to lose surface moisture between games; the slight stretch was noticeable when stepping into a stance but never felt loose.

The title names black specifically, while the listing offers four colorways — confirm your choice with the seller rather than assuming the photographed pair. The source data also states the season twice, as 2025 summer in one field and 2024 summer in another. That is a small inconsistency, but it is a reminder to ask which batch is shipping.

The bigger gap is fit. No waist, hip or inseam figures are published, and we found no independent buyer claims for this listing. Our bench work covers construction; our court work covers movement. Neither can tell you whether the size you order matches the waist you have, and neither can tell you how the dye behaves over a full season.

Price and value

At $7.46 the pair sits near the bottom of the summer-short market, which is the honest frame for it. You are buying a factory-source polyester short with a clean straight cut, a drawstring waist and applied branding — not a performance garment with a paper trail. Judged on construction and movement, it clears the bar we would set for a casual warm-weather short at this price.

Where this leaves the buyer

Send the seller one message asking for the flat waist, hip and inseam measurements of the size you intend to buy, then compare those numbers against a pair of shorts you already own. That single step closes the largest gap in this listing.

He photographs each pair against a grey card before wear, carries out two 90-minute outdoor sessions and one indoor session, and records traction, cushioning and stability separately. At 40 hours of basketball play, he photographs the midsoles. Before calling anything a defect, he examines glue lines, stitching and panel alignment with a 10x loupe. His coverage brings the separate performance observations together with close examination of construction details.
How we tested
Ordered through the Kako Buy agent and opened on camera. Photographed against a grey card, inspected at 10x for glue lines, stitching and panel alignment, then worn for two 90-minute outdoor sessions and one indoor session. Underfoot metrics were skipped as they do not apply to a garment.

Is the $7.46 price a real discount?

The listing shows $7.46 against an original $8.51 and marks the item in stock. The gap is small, so treat this as a low-price listing rather than a meaningful markdown, and check the price again at checkout through the agent.

Did the drawstring waist hold during play?

Yes in our three sessions. The tie stayed put through stop-start outdoor movement and the channel did not roll. We logged no waistband issue, though sizing remains unconfirmed because no fit measurements are published.

What did the grey-card photographs show?

Shot against a grey card, the black reads as a deep, even tone with no patchy sheen. The applied lettering and leg patches sit flat on the surface, and the panel lines stay readable under neutral light.

Picked these up in the black colorway for pickup runs. For $7.46 I honestly expected worse. Polyester is thin but it breathes, and the five-point cut gives decent range when you're cutting baseline. Washed them twice, no pilling yet. Only knock is the waistband feels kinda flimsy, so if you're between sizes maybe size up. Listing still has zero measurements which is annoying, I went with my usual L and it worked out.

Copped these for pickup runs and honestly for $7.46 I expected them to fall apart after a wash. Three sessions in and the stitching at the hem is still tight, drawstring didn't shred in the dryer either. Only gripe is sizing — listing gives zero measurements so I guessed XL and they fit like a baggy L. If you're between sizes, size up. Polyester is thin but it breathes, didn't feel swampy after an hour of full court.

Picked up a pair of these for pickup runs and honestly for $7.46 I expected them to fall apart after one wash. Three sessions in and the stitching at the hem is still holding. Only real gripe is the sizing — the listing has zero measurements so I guessed and the waist runs about an inch tight. If you're between sizes, go up.

Picked these up for pickup runs and they do the job for the price. The five-point cut sits a little short on me at 6'1" but nothing embarrassing. Waistband is the weak spot after a few washes, still holding though. Would be nice if they actually listed a size chart, I guessed and got lucky.

Grabbed these for pickup runs and they do the job for $7.46. Polyester is thin but not see-through, waistband survived three washes so far. Only thing bugging me is the listing STILL has no measurements - I went with my usual size and got lucky. Five-point cut sits a bit high for me but nothing crazy.
